The Clackamas County Jail is in the process of updating its ADA Self-Survey and Transition Plan -- and the Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's input.
The Transition Plan will be used as a guide for making improvements that will facilitate accessibility -- by removing physical impediments in the Clackamas County Jail and improving current levels of service in any Jail policies, programs, and procedures that could create barriers to accessibility for persons with disabilities.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) mandates that the Clackamas County Jail identify the hindrances encountered with disabilities. Upon completion of this self-survey component, the Transition Plan will outline a strategy for prioritizing such improvements -- considering such factors as the extent of deficiency, identified need, available budget, and realistic schedule.
The Transition Plan will ultimately formulate the Jail's strategy for transitioning to a fully accessible facility.
The Clackamas County Jail is seeking public input in updating this Transition Plan.
All suggestions, comments, or specific deficiencies should be brought to the Jail's attention by January 31, 2018, so that they may be evaluated and included in the self-evaluation.
