On Friday November 3, 2017, the Portland Police Bureau's Sex Trafficking Unit (STU) arrested a 41-year-old man in connection with online luring of a child.

Jason J. Paul of Portland was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Purchase Sex with a Minor, Online Sexual Corruption in the First Degree, Online Sexual Corruption in the Second Degree, Attempt Rape in the Third Degree, Attempt Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree, Patronizing Prostitute, and three counts of Luring a Minor.

The investigation started on Tuesday October 31, 2017, when Paul initiated contact with an undercover officer who posed as an underage female on a social media account. Paul expressed a desire to meet with her for purposes of a sexual nature.

Paul designated a time and location in Northeast Portland to meet the juvenile female. When he arrived at the location the Portland Police Bureau's Sex Trafficking Unit took him into custody.
