OFFICERS INVESTIGATE STABBING IN DOWNTOWN PORTLAND THURSDAY EVENING

On Thursday November 9, 2017, at 8:08 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the report of a stabbing near the intersection of Southwest College Street and Southwest 6th Avenue.

When officers arrived they located a 28-year-old male victim with what was believed to be a non-life-threatening minor injury. Emergency medical personnel provided medical aid and transported the victim by ambulance to an area hospital.

During the investigation, officers learned the suspect and victim were involved in a disturbance during which the suspect stabbed the victim with a knife. While canvassing the area, officers located and seized a knife believed to have been used in the stabbing. As officers continued the investigation they identified the suspect and learned his last known location. Based on this information, officers believed the suspect was inside an apartment building located in the 1900 block of Southwest 5th Avenue. Officers responded to the location and took the suspect into custody.

Members of the Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Assault Detail responded to assist with the investigation. Criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division have also responded to assist.

Detectives continue to investigate this case. The suspect will not be identified until he is lodged at the Multnomah County Jail.
