Today at approximately 3:00 p.m., deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Office were called to the area of Lancaster Drive NE near Winema Drive NE after a passenger car struck a Salem City bus. The vehicles which were both southbound at the time of the crash collided after the passenger car changed lanes into the side of the bus.

The bus which was carrying approximately 10 passengers reported no injuries. The vehicles driver and her two small children were all transported to the Salem Hospital with minor injuries. This is an ongoing investigation and deputies believe speed was a factor.

The Sheriff's Office is not prepared to release any information pertaining to the driver of the vehicle at this time. This release will be updated if the subsequent investigation is determined to be criminal. That time frame is not yet known.
